Other Uses of Botox |
|
|
| Of course you know about Botox being used to reduce frown lines, but did you know that it is used for a variety of other things, as well? It is used to control excessive sweating in the armpits, the palms of your hands, your feet, and also your face. It has been been proven useful in reducing the severity of migraine headaches. The face can be sculpted with Botox injections in certain areas, such as the nose and the corners of the mouth. It can make the 'bands' in your neck less noticeable. It is used to relax dimples in the chin which give you that "golf ball" look. Cases have been studied where injections of Botox can reduce the size of an enlarged prostate. Muscle spasms and involuntary twitching have been stopped with injections. The pain from jaw problems such as TMJ and TMD can be decreased. People with overactive bladder problems have benefited from injections of Botox at the base of the bladder. Lower back pain has been helped. Doctors have been using Botox for years on patients with Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy to control to a degree the muscle spasms that occur with these diseases. As time goes on and more research is done, and with FDA approval, there are many more things that will be found to benefit from the use of Botox. | |
